The U.S. Agency for Road Traffic Safety reported Saturday that it has detected faults in the fuel system, pipe and fittings 2356 sports cars of the Ferrari brand, owned by Italian automaker Fiat.
The agency has asked users of the models 355 F1, F335 and F355, manufactured between 1995 and 1999, to review their vehicles. The improper placement of screws that are located near the fuel circuit between the water hose and the connection of the thermostat, can damage the pipes and cause leaks.
If the liquid falls into the engine compartment can cause smoke and sometimes fire, which could end up in a traffic accident. The failure on the parts placement, the agency said, may have been because the cars have been repaired at independent shops and not the official home. Ferrari dealers assume repairing the problem free of charge from December.
